In Ho Chi Minh City you can visit the old presidential palace, now converted into a museum. On 30 April 1975, the army of the north along with the Viet Cong conquered Saigon unifying Vietnam into a single socialist state led by the Socialist Party of Vietnam. Following the conquest, the city was soon renamed Ho Chi Minh City in honour of the communist leader Ho Chi Minh. In the pictures, you can see the entrance of the building.
In January I was in Athens to celebrate the birthday of my girlfriend. Athens is a great city for both culture and food. We took a downtown hotel, near the parliament and we were close to both the hill of the Acropolis and Lycabettus (the highest mountain in Athens).
We went to the Acropolis passing through the homonymous museum
Medina (the old city) is the term usually used to refer to that part of town where the market is. In Tunis, the area is very impressive and full of small shops with local products, such as textiles, carpets, spices and even jewelry. The area is large and mostly indoors.
The buildings in the historic part of Tunis city have very complex decorations. I was lucky to be guided by a woman that is part of the community and very knowledgeable about the history of Tunis. She showed me some very special places.
The people in Tunis are very friendly and hospitable.
These are the pictures from my travel in Tunisia. I’m starting with the historic part of the city.
